ok so i just installed my new viper alarm and i need to add a backup battery to it. thing is, i dont want to spend an extra 50 dollars for it. so i was wondering if there was anyway i could do it myself without the expensive kit. also just wondering how it works? does it just go inline with the main power line??

so if i put a 9 volt battery inline with the main power wire will it work?

sorry for all the questions lol

the true dei backup battery uses one of the zone trigger wires to sense if someone disconnected your battery, which is an awesome feature. if you just made your own backup battery, you wouldnt have that feature.

hmm, good point. but i figure if therese a need for a backup battery(someone cutting your power wire) the alarm and reciever will already be triggered. its pretty much impossible to get to my power wire from under my car too so in order to cut it they would have to set off the alarm first. but how would i create my own backup battery? is a battery just wired inline with the main power wire?

thanks
