Back into car audio after 20 years - What to do with the BOSE in my 2011 GMC Sierra?

What's up guys..?

After being busy with life it's time to get back into one of my old hobbies.

I bought a 2011 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali crew cab truck new of the lot and I'm tired of the BOSE system.

Not planning to go overboard with this vehicle but I'd like to improve in 2 stages:

1.) Amp and Sub hooked up to high power sub line from BOSE.

2.) Mute rear door speaker and replace front door and center with a real nice replacement speaker and another dedicated amp. At this step it's time to hook up everything right behind the head unit.

When it comes to the sub I have figured out 2 options: buy a build, ported box for under the rear seats with 2 x 10" Sundown SAs firing into the carpet or only 1 x 8" SA in a small box under only one rear seat leaving me room for shopping runs and so on. Problem with the small sub idea is the port. I' don't want anything sticking out and closed would be too weak with just 1 x 8". Box would be only 0.6sqf.

Anyway: what do you guys suggest? Any other sub ideas? What amp for either 1 x 8" SA or 2 x 10" SA? What speaker for the front doors? Something with a real clean front stage, hard beating mid bass, no chatter, no headache. Will I need door panels with multiple driver? What manufacturer? What adapter for head unit?

Thanks,

McCarthy

You can fit 2 Sundown SD-2 8's in .6 cubes sealed. A friend of mine has them in 2 seperate .29 cu/ft boxes and they sound good. Not killer boomy but really good considering the box size. I have a single DD 1508(similar to the SA 8) in a ported 1cu/ft in my car that has **** good output. I'd suggest the SA 8 ported if you can find the room. If you have to go tiny sealed look into the SD-2's.

I know you said you didn't want anything sticking out, but you could always hide an aeroport behind the box under the seat. They're easy to tune and you'd never have to look at it. I had an SA8 V2 in a small ported box. I tucked my aeroport behind the seat. Use 2" pipe if you do go this route.

Disregard my advice if you want, lots of people hate on aeroports. They do sound good though, just my two cents
