Avital Phoenix 2 alarm

The alarm system still works, mercury switch on the engine hood works well, spring sensor on the topper. The spring sensor no longer triggers the alarm. Don't know if that wire is even activated to trip it. Have manual, but the directions are not written well.

So what steps do I take to get this wire activated and I'd like to replace that switch with a mercury one also? Sometimes have cargo I don't want stolen.

The mercury switch connects to the multiplexed trigger on the alarm and to ground. When the hood opens, the switch completes a circuit and the multiplexed trigger sees a ground, setting off the alarm. When the hood is closed, it's an open circuit. On any DEI alarm, I believe the multiplexed trigger is either the blue or blue with the white line.
