avh-4000dvd ipod issue

i know it's an old unit, but i picked it up real cheap, thought i would throw it in my wifes car for her.the issue is that there is no sound comeing from it while the ipod is playing. the screen shows all the menues and it says it's playing, but no sound. cd player and radio works fine. i bought the cd-i200 ipod cable for it. the ipod is a 16g iPod nano (4th generation). i have searched the web for an answere, but found none. anyone ever have this issue or know how to fix it? any help would be great
