The ground wire on my car (1996 grand prix se 3.1L) for the battery has a auxiliary lead on it but the lead is just grounded on the metal right at the front of the car by where the battery sits, is this wire nessary and will I damage anything if I take it off and replace the ground wire with 4 gauge without the auxiliary lead.

The wire also started melting a lil a while back, the main wire from the battery to the block or where ever it goes is fine but the lil wire started melting.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif My cars electrical is all fucd up:crap:

I think installing some bigger wire for a ground will be fine. The melting problem I am not sure what would be causing that unless the + is touching ground somewhere.
I dunno wahts going on with this car man, if I turn one dome light on it comes on fine, if I leave that one on and turn the other one on they both get real dim and the center comes on real dim. If I have one of those lights on and I open a door they go out completly and the lights on the doors come on.

If I roled my windows up when they were working sometimes the inside speakers would stop playing, sub and amp are still going but the inside speakers just cut off. I would have to turn the car off and back on to get sound again:verymad:

Sometimes I wonder if this little wire is the root of my problems but I dont want to take it off and then mess something up so I wanna know what the general population thinks too

Sounds like your grounding out somewhere but a fuse should of blew if that happens a lot of gm cars have problems with wiring I would recommend taking it somewhere if you can not find the root of the problem.

nobody else knows if this wire is ABSOLUTLY neccsary or not, if it is neccsary is there anyway I could make a ground wire with a 4 gauge auxiliary wire???
