Hopefully I post this in the correct section...
I recently bought an older Cadillac - '93 Eldorado.
It's got a stock Delco/Bose cassette+CD player - and from what I've
heard I can't replace this unit w/out replacing all the wires and speakers
since they are 1 or 2 ohm etc. etc. etc...
The first time I put a CD into the player it ate it up and wont give it back,
this was accompanied by lots of loud clicking which continued until I shut off
the vehicle and restarted it (as well as reading Err). Now I have AM/FM or
cassette to deal with for the time being (YUCK).
So question 1: Is it worth repairing this CD player - if so - where?
I've got all my music on a nice mp3 player (Archos NOT ipod thank you) but
I really dread the idea of running it through a phono-cassette tape converter.
In my other vehicle I've got a Pioneer HU and I managed to buy an adapter
I've connected to the CD changer jack in the back of the HU and can plug my
3.5 mm jack from the mp3 player to this. (only after switching to RCAs first -
but it works great).
So question 2: Does anyone know if this type of auxiliary input is possible
for my older Cadillac stock Delco/Bose head unit?
....or will you all just suggest I gut the whole setup and buy it all new?
(so far I'm not a big fan of this alternative - I'm trying to get out as
cheap as I can right now)
Any suggestions or help very welcome.
Thanks.
