AUX --> Car audio wire

What I'm trying to do is hook up a computer to play music to a home audio amplifier. I have an AUX cord and I told I can cut the end off and splice the wires to make a positive and negative wire. Is this possible? The amplifier can only take car audio wires (positive and negative)

Those are RCA's, you can get a AUX to RCA cord at walmart for like 5 bucks.

The person looked and only saw a spot for a positive and negative to go in. Is it not possible for this to work? Cutting an aux cord and hooking the + and - to the amplifier?

Your PC should have a stereo 1/8" mini plug for audio out.

i think he has one of those. but his amp only has imputs for speaker wire? so he wants to keep the headphone jack and strip the other two sides toe xpose the wire

I think what he's trying to say is that he's got one that is 3.5mm on each end, he wants to clip one end off and put the RCA ends on.

I think you're right.

He wants to be lazy..

Sounds like a bad idea. Go on Amazon and order the correct cable. It will cost your 5$.

my ghetto fabulous home theater is set up with one from walmart. My Vizio only has a headphone jack out so I used that and went to the RCA in on my stereo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I did the same for my house, cut the end of a set of RCA's off and soldered it to a stereo mini plug works great
