Audioque 2200D vs. Kicker 08ZX2500.1

Good luck with that amp, mine has been in the shop for over 4 weeks now due to something being stuck inside the amp causing the rca inputs to fry when a signal is received.

I own 2 and it just now damaged both amps because of this so the repair center is still trying to get these amps up and operational.

The AQ amp.

First time i got em, i strapped em up and poof, the slave amp fried.

They fixed it then sent back... as soon as i restrapped them... poof, slave amp fried.

They then requested both amps back because somethin wasnt right.

They took slave amp apart and discovered a toroid shorted out.... i couldnt have caused that just by hookin em up.

They fixed it then retested them strapped at the shop and Both amps fried!

So, not my fault, again. The slave amp had part of an rca connector broke off inside the amp.

That's interesting because they've had the amp WAY longer than i have, not my fault.

I've been without these 2 amps for 1 month now, they were brand new... now i dont know what they are really...

The shop is guaranteeing that when i get them back that they will function as new.

I hope so because this has been one long nightmare.

you could just about get 2 AQ 2200's for the price of 1 Kicker 2500.1. Both are good amps but I do not see the Kicker putting out that much more power for the amount of money they go for, unless you are getting a really good deal. I would personally go with AQ because they are very good amps. Very strong and reliable. And you can not beat the price. I run 2 and i swear that they do more than 2200 RMS.
If you're paying 775 bucks for a kicker 2500, you've gotten the shaft. Hard.

There was some for sale for 450 shipped a few months back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Of all the AQ2200D's out there and there are a lot of them in service I've had three of them in for service and two of them were Sizzon's. The other was damaged by UPS in transit. There is a little more to the story then related in Sizzon's post but be it as it may we are gettin him taken care of.

I regret that it has taken this long to take care of Sizzon and I am responsible for that.. I asked him to send in the master amp to make sure it wasn't damaged when the slave amp blew during the initial install and instructed the repair center to run the amps strapped for an extended run-in after repairing the slave amp. After six hours both amps blew. Both amps are being repaired and will be shipped as soon as possible after being bench tested in the strapped mode for an extended run-in.

We know both of Sizzon's amps failed but neither I or the repair center know for certain the root cause of the failures; they are being repaired as fast as possible. I can assure Sizzon that his amps will have been gone over with a fine tooth comb from stem to stern and bench tested in both the master and slave mode before leaving the repair center.

I know that we have lost Sizzon as a customer but that doesn't mean we are not going to do our best to take care of his problem.

You would have only lost me as a customer if the problem were never fixed...

Others in my area are looking to purchase some AQ subs soon and as soon as the amps are returned in working order, i'm sure there are going to be more praises in the future.

I am in the ranting stage due to a constant headache.

Once i ever get taken out of that stage, i'll be once again makin a long review of the performance, not of this problem, and some vids in action.

Honestly though, i'm glad the repair center has kept them in the long run to prevent my expectations from going down the drain.

I didn't buy these amps because of the price, i bought these amps because of the reviews that went along with the price to performance ratio.

We'll see in the end as i will have power testings on these amps as well.

Well although I could for sure understand the frustration by all means.. But think about it like this. Dunno if you went online before. But most companies including large ones could take 4 to 6 weeks to get the amp back to you. I can recall my friend having his shredder fixed twice by EQ and both times took almost 6 weeks and HE PAYED for the repairs out of warranty and took that long. So to actually have had it fixed and sent out and them have them fixed again and tested and fixed again lol and tested... You would be looking at 3 months plus at most companies. Also 95 percent of companies won't test them more than 10 times TOPS most less than that.... And ship it off again so you would have had to wait even longer and pay shipping yet again. So honestly for having an amp problem you faired pretty well and I think they handled this excellent. But what I just said is the reason I don't purchase amps from online. Too much hassle. I get almost all brands (yes including kicker) right at about cost locally with direct exchange warranty with NO wait.

the other amp that was damaged in ups transit was mine!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif:(//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif:( my new one comes in tomorrow and i will definitely tell you guys how it works.

DJ I was wondering if you could give out the actual power it puts out @ 1 ohm on 14volts Thanks
he does... 2200w.

When i get mine in, i'll be doin my own testing with the car off. The voltage they will see will be between 12-8-13.1v so a more real world output scenario. I have 237aH worth of batteries in the back to power these so float should remain level for a while while i take measurements.

i hooked the aq2200d to the axis 15 today. is slams very nice. the thing i was going to ask is that i have to turn the volume of the HU was up before it starts slamming. i dont think that is unusual but with my old system it would reach max power with the volume only about 2/3 way up. maybe the junk HU (kenwood kdc 132 of somthin like that) thanks

That has to do with how the gains on the amp are set

Its not that they lie on the birthsheet, its that they put the MAX power rating on it. Max power rating IMO are very deceptive cause in most cases it is unusable power in anything other than a straight SPL application.
I think that MAX power probably refers to the most power (in RMS) that the amp was able to produce at a cetain THD percentage (I think Kicker uses 1%). If you wanted to convert its RMS value to peak wattage multiply 2500[sqrt(2)], which equals 3535.53 watts.
