If you read my post before on my amp you'll know i ordered the 4 ohm version and it only wires to 2 or 8 ohms... my amp runs 700 watts x 1 in 4 ohm bridged (mono), therefore the Dual 4 ohm speaker wouldnt work... i sent that back and i am now getting the Dual 2 ohm version which wires to 1 or 4 ohms. So when i wire it in series it will be at 4 ohms, thus making the amp run at 700 watts right?

Wired in series- you will have two subs each with 4 ohm loads. (4 ohm stereo) This would leave you the option to connect the subs together in series for an 8 ohm mono load, or in paralel for a 2 ohm mono load.

The DVC 4 ohm models you sent back would have been the right ones to use for a 4 ohm mono load. By wiring each of thier coils in series - you would have 2 subs with an 8 ohm stereo load. Once these are wired together in paralel- this would yeid a 4 ohm mono load to go to your amp.

If you want the 4 ohm mono load- you will need the Dual 4 ohm Voice Coil models back.

Have a look here, as this may explain things a bit better,

take it easy,

jmpisgod--if you are using only one sub

on your amp and the amp is rated at 700

watts into 4 ohm . then the dual 2 ohm sub will work

just wire your dual 2 ohm sub in series

for a 4 ohm load to your amp

thanks zane, thats what i thought at first... but i only have 1 speaker... if i had known wiring would produce different loads for diff # of speakers i would have never got the D4

i told him add a sub or change it but also *noted* shoulda tried it because nominal impedences dont mean squat after things start rollin..your amp might have liked that reactive load but your change wasnt bad just made it more predictable......:p you are headed in right direction i dont wanna confuse you like i do and did others but those who know realize what i am talking about.
