Audiofrog GS Series

Hi everyone so I have an other thread here about hertz and morel speakers but after going into a couple shops I getting a chance to hear some other brands audison and audiofrog and I really like the sound of the GS series, but I don't see a ton of reviews on these series mostly on the GB.

The price difference is a big jump. What will I be missing when it comes to sound quality? Is it worth the extra cost?

Well I went ahead and got the GS speakers installed and they sound amazing. Currently running the speakers off of factory amp and head unit though.

I can already tell that the speakers will be even better once I add a sub, amp

wait till you take off the factory amp and use a proper sound quality head unit and proper 4 channel with more power. Fully tuned and doors deadened, then you'll see what they can actually do.

Yea I definitely will be doing all that. My next purchase will be an amp, rear speakers and sub.

Jeff what type of amp would you recommend? The shop recommended me a Phoenix gold? Not a lot of reviews on their amps except for the elite which is too much for my system.

the old school pheonix gold is good, the new school is not so great. Whats your budget? Also what do you have for signal processing?

I would like to keep my budget under 1k for the amp. I'm still on the factory headunit as that will be one of my last upgrades with the deadening.

you should start off with the head unit, get something with a high quality DAC with at least 13 bands of EQ and time alignment, makes a bigger difference than more power. 1k for the amp is not necessary at all, you can easily get optimum results with an amp costing 250-400. I'd seriously get a sound quality head unit before an amp. Stock head unit is a garbage signal. Proper processing either from a head unit or a proper digital sound processor makes the biggest difference in sound quality next to install and speaker choice since a head unit actually allows proper system tuning. amplifier is way last on the list, bottom of the SQ food chain of upgrades in comparison to the other two.

Jeff, when's the last time you've played with a PG amp??? I'll put up any of their new amps against anything they made in the past. Steve Mantz had a hand in designing all their amps and they are rock solid, they are in fact my go to amp and I'm running the Ti2 series in my car on Focal K2's......

Just wondering if it's been a while since you checked them out. Once Aamp of America bought them from the holding company that had them, they got rid of all the crap that had previously been made that was trying to ride off the name coat tails....

I see, yeah its been awhile since i gave pheonix gold a good look. Last time I looked it was very bottom of the barrel but if they are going back to their former glory, then all the power to them.

Yeah bro they are VERY BADAZZ now......even their entry level RX line is very good. We have yet to have any product failures that wasn't due to installer error.

I've listened to the Audiofrog lineup and I love them, if we weren't a Focal dealer they would definitely be in my shop but alas our market isn't strong enough for me to support two highend lines....

I am using aux with an iPhone.

ouch, yeah man pretty much what you are listening now is speakers covered with a wet mud covered towel purely because of your source, stock head unit with aux is one of the worse sources next to a cassette player. If you think your setup sounds good now, wait till you get a proper head unit playing lossless files through USB/SD card along with proper time alignment and EQ.

Read up on that. Pretty much gives you full control of every tiny aspect of your system. crossovers/levels/time alignment/ parametric EQ. There is also a way to wire your phone directly to it, bypassing the need for a headunit all together. I know its possible for android, im not sure how one does it for iphone though i believe its talked about on the thread.

Get a solid 4 channel if your running a component active system.

So can you just download the app and connect the android phone through usb?

no, i was referring to the SPDIF input. For android phones, you simply get a OTG cable, wire it to a usb to SPDIF adapter, then the coaxial to the C-dsp. The c-dsp comes with an a wired external volume knob(like a bass knob). There is a 7$ app that bypasses your phones DACs. You just run all your music through that.

All in the info you need in that thread.
