Well now I know they are overrated, oh well. At least I made a little bit of room getting rid of it. I was thinking on giving her another one and setting the gain at 1/4, but I guess not. THANKS

Well they are now selling them at Wally World as I stated on another thread. It is not the amp because I have never had problems with running the subs of this amp before. I dont know what happened with my sisters setup and I really dont care anymore. Believe me I have heard them before, and got rid of them. Why dose everyone rag on ab? my theroy is that half of the people that say ab susks have never heard a pair(in a proper set up). I have two aw1206t's that sound like any other sub. The sq is nice I have a real nice blend between highs and lows. And when i want to get real low, their happy to take the punishment with out even giving off that fresh oven smell. O.k they spent a littel time and money on chrome, big deal. In exotic car comps with the candy paint in the trunk you dont want to see a huge freshly dug from the earth magnet. So ab threw some chrome at you. They'r still winning comps. mabey the amp is putting out more than it's ratted power, did you test that? Its probably not, but its a place you didnt look. Or you didnt post it. Any ways ease up on ab go on realm of excurison look at all of those ab subs wanging. If they are as bad as everyome says they are then why are those subs not destroyed?

But I have never heard a shitter sounding sub in my life. I mean if you want it for looks, then bingo, AB is the way to go. If you want loud shitty sound, then AB is the way to go. If you want something that is overrated 10 fold and will blow on you because you gave it too much power then there are many better companies out there. Not to mention cheaper,louder, cleaner sounding subs. So brings me to the theory you havent heard many types of woofers? Reducing the gain will limit the amplifiers output potential just the same.

I just talked to a friend of mine and he brought up a good point. Maybe that Audiobahn subs are over rated. The AW122T is rated at 550w rms and 1100w peak, I was giving it 800w. He said it should have not blown unless they are overrated and cant even handle what is stated on the sub:crap: . Now I am even more confused, I dont even know what to think anymore. Has anyone ever gave their Audiobahn subs more that rms and had this problem.

Ha..mine are louder than ever and i'm giving 'em 700w rms each.no problems actually i'm very impressed.I'm sorry to here what happened to yours though.

Nope, I have had them sitting for about a year along with the other subs and amps that were used in a previous install. I was just going to give my sis another one of the Bahns and try to set the gain a bit lower see what happens. I was also thinking of running the sub off of only one channel (200w) for the meantime until she saves money to get another one. I've heard plenty of diff subs jl(guy across the street has a 12w6), kicker(brother has 2 12cvr) kicker 15l7(shop burped one for me), almani 12s, mt9500, h2 12.2, fosgate, diamond, infinty,the list gose on and on. No is was not offended about the comments, just the ignorance. Most people i'm sure never heard one in a poroper setup. I heard all of those subs. Sat in most of the cars for hours. Ab did what they did, gave off bass. The guy at the ab shop even bridged 2 a2300hct together 2ohms free air on a awis12p it took it all day. I admit that their lower stuff is crap, that's why its cheaper. when you start getting up the food chain they are reliable on get real loud, and yes the sq is crap. But when your going for spl only one thing matters, spl. Did you go to realm of excurison? Mabey they set their gains low on the amps powering their subs but they seem to be pushing max without give. And if you would like i'll go and get all the info on the subs I heard. Like box size, port, amp gains, car type, power source. All that. And ab is cheap now their best subs go for like 230, i bought both of mine for 120. And jl is overrated 10 fold. They are way over priced, they design them to only work best with jl amps. The guy across the street with the 12w6 has some jl1000 or sometihng like that, In a 2+cube box. Mabey he's doing something wrong, but it looks like that sub is trying real hard to put out some bass, but it's barley shaking the mirrors. When I bought both my subs and my box, and my comps for as much as his one sub. I got the whole body flex and window wave going on.
Mabey she was rockin out a littel hard. would you tell some one you abused something then ask them for more? The only thing you could do is try it your self install everytihing push it to its max. Have her in the car too. Then tell her the signs of when sometihng is about to give, like the oven smell, distortion, and clipping. Oh, At least they'r not just sitting around. Mabey that's the cause, it just sitting there. Was any water getting to it? Where did you have them sitting at?

They are all sitting in my room away. I thought maybe that could be a cause, they have sat for about a year. I just installed another in her car, we will see what happens. If it blows, oh well at least I am making some room getting rid of some of my crap. I turned the gain a bit lower and made sure again that everthing was correct as far as connections and settings. I told her this was going to be the last I give her, she is on her own from here.

Matter of fact I just finished putting another of my sub in there:uhoh: . I am going to drive her vehicle today so that I can play the music I listen to at a loud volume and see what happens:naughty: . Actually I hooked the sub up to only one channel giving it only 200watts at 1/2 gain to see what it would do. I guess I will find out.
