almost....then i looked at ebay. i had some 6.5 comps i bought a while back and never installed only paid 85 for em but i took em back because i needed a new h.u so i got one for 140 which was marked as 169..i then saw this h.u at best buy for 99 i mentioned it to the guys at the store and they said hey man come back and we'll give ya 40 in store credit and apologized profusely...i said nah its fine because i love the h.u and told em if i ever do need something from a shop im going to them instead of the other 3. good guys...unfortunately they cant help but seem to be ripping ppl off with all the internet deals and craigslist etc.

For the most part, audio shops are not truly ripoffs. A fact of life is that almost anything that you buy from toilet paper to clothes can be found cheaper online. Yet you never really see someone say, Target ripped me off, I could of gotten that cheaper online. Its a completly different business model for online companies to B&M stores. SO, threads like this just really just pointless. Now, I still order from online places but I don't contend that shops are ripoffs because they have similar or more bills to pay as a online store while having a fraction of the clients.

Look up D bentons under texas shops.. i got a nice little story where they really did try to rip me off. BY STEALING MY ****** WALLET

It is pretty ghey how these DUSHES at shops think they know more then you because you don't work at a shop. And think they know and know everything about audio. They think they are pros. The worst is shops that sell only mainstream.

Ive been going into audio shops for 20+ years, I have too many funny stories to tell. I think one of my favorites was walking into a local shop in San Luis Obispo Ca, talking to the shop owner, who started out as a know-it-all who assumed I knew jack, but after a good 15 minute discussion he offered me a job. Made my day. lol

heres a short story...one of many. there is a place in binghamton ny named "Boom Audio" owned by a guy everyone knows as fat freddy. has an astro van with 2 audiobahn immortals and 8k watts....and he speaks peak not rms. claims its the loudest in the county...all he sells is crap lik maxxsonics, low end lanzar powerbass jensen low end audiopipe, he is a 1 man show...anyway all i wanted was some 1/0 gauge wire and he is the only place in town with it on a spool so i was driving my grand am and he goes what are you running for an amp, i was like memphis 2500 mojo....hes like how many watts.....i say ummm 2500? (underrated of course) then hes like you need a high output alt and you cant fit anything higher than 130 on those cars, not enough room i know for a fact im very familiar with them. .....im like....270 amp mechman alt. he says nope impossible i have the biggest alternator anyone makes its a green machine on my envoy. im thinking wow this guy is ******* dumber than i thought and wanted to point out that not all alternators are the same....and they dont necessarily need to be bigger to be more powerful. he then says what subs? i said 1 memphis mojo 15, he goes oh that isnt gonna be loud at all nope nope nope. only 2500 watts? nope, this here audiobahn amp is 2000 watts and theres a bunch of em in here this is loud!...i think to myself audiobahn advertises peak...or at least they did when he got these. and im like no this is 2500 rms actually more like 2800 hes like so?...uhhhh rms is the real wattage. had him sit inside with the door open on his side, got it 3/4 of the way up and he threw his hands up over his ears and bailed out. i laughed so ******* hard. yeah i know this wasnt short but still.....amateur hour

Isn't audiobahn out of business now anyway? Last I heard, they filed for bankruptcy.
