Audio Problems in stock 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse

I have been having many problems audio problems with my newly purchased car (01 Eclypse). The radio(fm/am) usually doesnt work and will either be almost muted or start popping and making static. The cd player is more reliable but will randomly have unbearable static, changes volume control sensitiviy, and have almost muted volume. These can occur one or all at a time, although sometimes there is no problem at all. I find the when I first use my car in the morning it works pretty reliably, but as the day goes on it becomes more problematic. Everything is stock (infinity sound system) and I have limited knowledge of electronics/cars, but am fairly competent. What do you think the problem is?

Grounded wire/cable somewhere. Check behind the HU and at the factory amp.

you defiantly have a short on ur hands...Mabe looking into

a new radio / Cd player... There not that hard to in stall if your

Alright, I'm thinking it may be water damage since its a convertible. The dealer told me it needed a new amp, although I dont think thats the case since the volume isnt the problem most of the time. Would installing a new head unit most likely fix the problem?
