Audio dead after jump start

I had to jump start my car (1990 Civic / sedan / automatic) the other day with a booster from my mate since I left the parking lights accidentally on. Since then the car audio is dead - the lights on the LCD screen won't even come up. I checked the fuse box under hood and dash today - all are intact.

What steps should I follow to see what the problem is?

Thanks!!

Matt

You need a DC voltage meter. You need to check your voltages in the back of your head unit. Put the positive probe on the yellow wire and negative on the black. You should read 12v or more. Move the positive probe to the red wire. You should read 12v or more also with the key in the on position. If either of these is not true, you need to replace that fuse. If it's the red wire and it STILL have voltage after you've made sure the fuse was good, you need to replace the relay for it.

If that STILL doesn't work, you need to replace your head unit because you killed it.

Thanks BCFosheezy, and everybody else for your reply.

BCFosheezy - trouble is I can't get the head unit to come out of the slot which would enable me to check for voltage back of the unit. There is really no screw or anything holding the unit in the slot. I could just pull it it out and slide it 3/4 of it's length out but it doesn't want to come out all the way. Any suggestions?
