I won't be gaming, just internets, typing, a little CAD perhaps, and ****.

Worth it or not? I like the warranty, and the fact it's not a complete dog. This is also upper tier on what I'm willing to spend at this point in time, so... alternate suggestions over 800 bones need not apply.

Not bad, but if you look hard enough, you can probably find one with a 17" screen for close to the same price.

fyi if your going to be running vista you should have 2 gigs of ram. If i were you i would check out some hp lappy's

I'll use it at school, I was planning on buying an extra battery. I'll bring t with me when I go places, but nothing too extreme.

And about the memory, I'm planning on adding another gig for now, it's only $20.

If you really plan on taking it with you to class, you should really get the smallest laptop you can afford. It might not sound like a lot, but by the time you add in books and other shit, it makes a difference.

I bring a 12" laptop to class and use a 17" at home.

I can't stand small displays. Don't ask me why, bu I just don't like them. I've used some 13" ones at school (borrowed from the library) and they were just annoying to me.

I can appreciate what you're saying, but I think the trade off for a 15" screen would be worth it to me. esp. since this will be the main computer I use at home as well.

Well i guess more like $1300 because i also added the complete care warranty. If it meets with an unfortunate accident near the end of the warranty (when they no longer stock the m1210) i will get an upgraded replacement. Well worth the extra $ imo.

It doesn't bother me, and i find myself using it at home even though i have a 17".

you should check out forums.slickdeals.net there are always deals on 15" dells. Cheaper than that asus.
