Attn Loud Trunks

what did u do to strengthen it?
Added a little extra bracing, biggest piece that made a huge difference to my surprise was...see in my sig pic that middle piece stretching vertically on the baffle? Basically added one of those on the outside as well, which stopped the baffle from flexing, and then I spent some time working on sealing up the port holes which were still very leaky (like the area around them where they fit into). They still are a little leaky but like I said it's quite a bit audibly louder so apparently it made quite a difference //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, also switched amps to an rd3250.1 (rated about the same at 2 ohms), didn't notice a HUGE difference with that but it was audible I think, with about the same voltage drop, so it's a gain in efficiency and overall power because of it, and hopefully even a little more power once I add the batcaps

what amp did u have before? and that amp does over 3k rms? i want to see this thing get metered lol

lol no I had a hifonics 2607 @ 2 ohms before (about 1500-1600 rms @ 2 ohms @ 14.4v) and now I have the rd3250 @ 2 ohms (about 1500 rms @ 12.6v I believe)

these things wouldn't last long on 1.5k+ a piece lol

I'd guess I gained maybe 200-300 watts max from the switch, maybe a little more after adding batts

Next setup will probably be alot smaller, my options I'm lookin at are

single 10

pair of 10's

single 12

pair of 12's

single 15

leaning towards one of the first 3 options, if it's a pair, I want to run @ .5 ohm (about 4kw outta this amp if I can keep voltage up), and if it's a single I'll just run @ 1 ohm for about 3kw

reason I want to do something small is so it's not much trouble to test a bunch of boxes/designs rather than something I build once and that's it...unfortunately my trunk opening is tiny compared to the total room in there...

id do a pair of copper hd3c 12's at .5 ohm. u could easily be doin around a 146 or so with a normal trunk box daily. ive found sub and port back is the best for daily so far.

I am thinking with just staying with single sub setup just changing the box a little.what do you guys think 3.5 cub with about 4k daily and 6-7k burps should be good and if i can seal it it should get loud

I've thought about the HDC's but its like everybody has them u know...? I'm leaning more towards DD if I go the DD/AQ way though

Glad to hear ya got the 3k back! Now you can finally get that sub to performance level.. LOL
As far as your trunk goes if you want help I'll be happy to show you and help you seal that box forward into the cabin and it won't matter if your trunk is open you will not lose pressure in the cabin! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Let's make this happen!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm only 2.5hrs away only thing I'll ask in return is maybe some help with putting in my new sheot. Got to run 2 more runs, wire in new batt.(find space for 2 in trunk),add 2nd 5k,and play with a pr of HDC10's. Well find out once and for all which one is stronger. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Look forward to seeing ya In The Lanes! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/viking2.gif.35c13a457368016b956ccf693af31291.gif

Look
As soon as the weather get nicer Im gonna have to take you up on your offer. I really want to seal it off but I have no idea where to even start. After that I think all I need is another battery and Ill be set.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would love to help you make your car better too. I would do that even if you didnt help me out. I was and still am impressed by your setup and Im sure you could show me a thing or two.

And lastly if you end up liking the HDCs over the HDs ill take them one off your hands no problem.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
