ATTN: Computer people

I wouldn't go the 370 or 380W units, but the CM 450 is a truly nice PSU.
Ya mon, that PC Power and Cooling PSU is awesome stuff, probably what many SLI runners would go for. I don't think this system will ever hit SLI though. Will it?

Good post Moe

i wasnt even looking at wattages lol, just 12v amperages. The cooler master is a great choice. Im running the OCZ Powerstream 520 which has individually adjustable 3.3, 5v, and 12v rails. Its a VERY nice PSU. I get no voltage drops whatsoever. Im running an A64 3500 @ 2.8 ghz 24/7, DFI SLI-DR, 6800GT (bios flashed to eVGA's 6800 Ultra) 1 gig of kingston hyperX 3500 @ 2-3-3-7 @ 236mhz. WD 200gig SATA drive, fans in every spot, 92mm tornado on the proc running off of a vantec nexus, its too loud otherwise lol. All in all this power supply doesnt EVER dip in voltage, whether its idle, benchmarking, gaming, anything.

edit: i doubt snova will run sli, but for an Nforce 4 system, i would not go below a 26 amp rating on the 12v rail. Most quality PSUs (enermax, antec, ocz, PCP & C, Cooler master) will do what they are rated for.

When the hell did everything become so cheap???? I was lookin around newegg because i was thinkin of building a new comp a few months ago and everything was so ******* expensive, now stuff is cheap as hell(for example, that processor was at least twice as much, and that vid card was at least twice as much also). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Prices dropped quickly after the Athlon 64 dual cores came out. That 4800 x 2 is an awesome proc lol. I believe i paid ~300ish for my 3500+. ATIs had to drop prices lately because Nvidia is dominating the market with SLI and Pixel shader 3 compatible cards. ATI still doesnt offer either of those.

edit: I got my proc on 5/31/2005 and it was $277 shipped

Speakin' my language man. Nice setup.

So is picking a case not too important since I'm going to be using that PSU anyway?
BTW, thanks for the help
Just make sure you get a case with plenty of fans in it, if you get a better vid card heat could become a problem real quick (my ati 9800xt is now shit because of heat, the 3.2 P4 is a ***** and heated shit up too much and damaged my vid card, which still works it just likes to heat up regularly now also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif ). Just make sure you have good ventilation in ur case, you don't want to be stupid like me and let things get too hot.

Pixel shader 3.0 has so far proven to be little more than a number. Nobody has fully used it to its potential, although negligible performance improvemtents have been clocked on some versions of a couple popular games (discontinued patch of Far Cry and latest Doom 3).

ATi has their answer to SLI coming out, but how many people are really buying multiple video cards that each cost as much as an entire entry-level PC? That's a baron market.

The best they can do is get the geeks and freaks talking about their stuff online to generate sales of "normal" stuff.

My OC'd X800 XT 256 on a 3.0 P4 OC'd to 3.9, with 2 GB of 2-3-3-6 GEIL RAM, and dual 15kRPM SCSI U/320 on Adaptec RAID0, is more muscle than any current or demo game can flutter, even at native 1680x1050 wide LCD.

There is no doubt that when stuff starts to strain it, I'll be upgrading. *hehe*

Lol, it's funny how ati and nvidia kind of rollercoaster up and down and switch places about every year or so.

Its still selling cards though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I was going to go with dual 6800GTs until i realised the 7800GTX overclocked will perform right in the same neighborhood lol.

The cases on NewEgg's site come with power supplies...should I still get a different one and use that instead? Any cases that you could point out that are good?
you know what I use the power supply that comes with the case (400watts +) and if it ever dies I replace it. Why waste money you dont need to. I only had one of them cheapy power supplies not work out on me. Of course Im still using an XP 2500+ on an A7V333-raid board with 1 gig of pc2700
