I have a 2000 monte carlo which came w/an amp from the factory mounted in the trunk. I spliced off of the factory bundle and connectd my amp (a piece of junk cuspid am4310 approx 50 watts rms x4). The newer chevy's run all system alarms (door open, headlights on, etc.) through the head unit, to the factory amp, then out to the front speakers (thats why I cant swap out the factory hu). The amp works and sounds great but the system alarm tone is amplified (ear shattering bing bing bing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blow_up.gif.f2a780e8b12ae09e264cb01720b8dca2.gif ) so I need to keep the gain for front channels Very low. Now that you understand all that (hopefully) I have an extra line coming from the factory bundle which has 2.5 volts when the car is on. This I assume is the attenuation control for the system alarm. Has anyone had any expierence w/this type of configuration and know what Im supposed to do w/ this extra line so the alarms arent quite so loud and I can turn the gain up. I figgure I either need to run it to ground, or perhaps to the remote line, but I dont wanna damage anything if'n Im wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/chicken.gif.218ea7401db50d5e31a7e0b37e05e21e.gif . thanks
