Attention Sundown e8 users

I have received several questions about some failures on a few new and refurbished e8s. It seems like some users are finding that the tinsil leads are burning and breaking both under the dustcap and on the spiders. This could be a result of any number of things from install to power levels or even just a part that failed.

I should be receiving another limited supply of recones in a few weeks for those who are interested. The e8s are still very popular to those looking for a lower power small footprint driver and I would like to keep these woofers bumping.

Not all woofers will need to be fully reconed. Some may just need to have the lead connections repaired. Anyone who is interested in having me look at their blown e8s for a diagnosis is welcome to send them my way. I will examine each woofer and if I can repair it without reconing I will do so at no cost to you (other than shipping costs). If the woofers need to be reconed completely the user will be responsible for recone costs which I do not have prices for yet but will not be outrageous (I imagine 25-35 per woofer).

All reconed e8s come with a 30 day warranty through me as they have in the past.

shouldnt have to do this...... reason why i got rid of my e8's. great drivers when they work!

i would say so, yes. possibly the tinsel leads. one of mine did the same and the tinsel lead burnt near the dustcap.

That does not seem to be related to this issue. My main findings are poor tinsil connections. Once I actually look at the woofers I can see what the issue is.
