so i installed it last night in my 2000 ranger with the 556uw test all the wires they were right soldered it all together, i get done and the alarm works perfect but the remote start portion when i hit the remote to start it, it does nothing the remote doesnt even give me the out of range beep or the error beep. it wont even let me set the tach. so all the fuses are good, i have the second ignition set up for second accessory. and then anyone know exactly where the factory alarm disarm with is? directechs says it is a drk green/purple wire in the drivers kick, well i looked for a long time for it and didnt find it, there is a large bundle of wires there and it isnt in that or the door harness. any help would be great?

This vehicle has 2 door trigger wires, a YELLOW/BLACK (-) for the DRIVERS DOOR in the DRIVERS DOOR HARNESS, the PASSENGER DOOR is a GREY/RED (-) located in the PASSENGER DOOR HARNESS. When connecting to an ALARM SYSTEM, use both DOOR TRIGGER wires and DIODE ISOLATE, to connect

If you ground out the white/blue wire on the main harness does it remote start or not?

Chances are there isnt a factory alarm on that but to make sure roll the window down and lock it with the driver switch. Wait a couple minutes and reach through the window and open the door. If nothing happens you dont have a factory alarm.

As far as learning the tach wire, try and program the unit to voltage sense instead of tach and see if that works. If not its still easier to troubleshoot that way.

i am using the light blue white wire for the door triggers. i have not tried to do anything with the white/blue wire. i am sure it has factory security as the theft like blinks all the time and stays solid for a bit after i lock it. the weird thing is that my remote doesnt even give me the timed out or error beeps when i try to rs it. it is like a broken button. i am gonna have my friends boyfriend look at it later in the week as he used to manage the CC bay and just quit a few weeks ago. its enough to piss me off tho. i got the unit from hookontronics and that is where i got my 791 from too.

Theft lights always blink in Fords and most dont have factory security. Are you sure you pressing the correct sequence of buttons to start the vehicle? Even if something isnt hooked up right there should be some kind of response followed by a code that will tell you why it wont start.

Make sure the hoodpin wire (should be gray) is not grounded. Make sure the neutral safety (should be black white) is.

White/blue is the remote start activation input. Tap it to ground twice and see if it remote starts, that way you can tell if it's something with the remote or maybe your programming. Also try going tachless... 1sec cranking time and switch from tach to voltage sensing.

it doesnt even activate the remote start right ? Check the Neutral safety input wire, make sure you put that to ground, or hook it up to the toggle switch. That is 99% your problem

should i set voltage sense to high or low? luckly i have a bitwritter with version 2.4
Tach, voltage sense, crank time... whatever none of that is your problem because that only tells the alarm when to stop cranking. If your remote is not even acknowledging the remote start command, then one of the prerequisites for rem start is missing, (neutral safety not grounded, hoodpin grounded, or foot brake stuck on +12v) Since you've already checked the first two I would make sure you have the correct foot brake wire. It will show +12 when you're on the brake.

right on, taking it all in and gonna check it out tomorrow after class, i would do it today but i brushed a herculiner in the bed this weekend and have to put the stuff back on my bed.
