ARGH! A noise that is bad and wrong!

I just installed a Kenwood KDC-X911 head in my car, and had someone else install my four channel Kenwood KAC-648S amp for me. I have a six speaker configuration... two 3 1/2's in the front dash and two 6 x 9's in the front door panel make up channels one and two, and two 6 x 9's in the back make up channels three and four... and I have a high pitched whirrrrrring noise problem. If the car is not running (key in the acc position) there is no bad noise at all. When start my car though I get bad noise in just the front two channels (the front four speakers, but not the back at all. The noise pitch changes with the engine revs and has a slight steady click click click sound in it too. Adjusting the volume control doesn't effect the noise level at all. Is this a ground problem, an oscilating amp problem, a ? problem? PLEASE HELP!

Peace, James

sounds like a ground loop, check the ground. if this isn't the problem then check the rca's make sure they are far away from the power cable. maybe someone else has a more specific solution but this is all i could come up with now. peace

I thought it might be a ground problem too, but being a novice when it comes to car audio installations I thought I'd better get advice from some folks who have a lot more clues than I do. Thank you Mercureie, I'll try checking my grounds first and see if that is it. I do know that the rca's run right along side my blue (amp turn on) wire... which was not my doing, but is potentially my problem.

I'll check that out. I hope that is what it is, because then it would be MY fault, and I'd much rather be angry with myself than with the person who wired my amp. Thank you Mike.

alternator wine is usually a bad ground somewhere, but sometimes is caused in they ran the rca's next to the power......and I actully had an amp that no matter what I was unable to get ride of the whine (it did happen to be a pieace of shit though)

True. I'm sure I could have done a search, but I'm brand new here and wasn't sure where and how to do much of anything yet, so I just posted a message.

Thank you to everyone who took time to address my noise problem, even if the question is a redundant one on this message board.

Peace, James

I'm not going to argue with you dude, and I don't blame you. Noobs get one get out of jail free card. But seriously- you should only post a question after you have searched to see if the answer already exists.
