Running "active" allows you much greater control and usually results in a better overall sound, compared to adjusting with EQs feeding into amplified passive crossover networks. A lot of the 2-way crossovers I've seen have a 20-2K woofer tap and a 2K - 20K tweeter tap. 3 Way taps are usually 0-500hz, 500-2000, and 2000-20K.
