Are my RE SE's going bad already ?

Wow. Everyone seems to be having bad luck with the SE's lately. Been bangin mine for about 3 yrs now, n/p...
hells ya mean, ive been bumping mine for almost 2 years. in fact i just sold it, not casue i didnt want it eather. i was givnen some subs to play with to sell at my shop, so i had my sub and box out and a kid was interested! the SE has got to be one of the best subs ive had.

my SEs seem to do that.. I got mine from audiosavings.

I took them out and one coil seem to have a burnt mark.

i felt like my subs were losing some volume sometimes

that amp puts out real power not like most 1500rms amp that put out 1100-1200. this amp will do full power on a decent stock electrial system.

i run a se 10 sometimes that i reconed and it ended up being 2dbs louder and sounded better. it's just the spider sucks on the new one...

How exactly do you go about breaking in these subs?? i installed mine..went out to a remote area so not to disturb the neighbors and cranked it up and watched the windshield flex...

I love me SE's and have had no problem ..

from what i see, it seems like your electrical can't keep up.... which makes the amp running on low voltage... putting less power .... being less loud

and put back your lpf higher than 35... with a prefab box tune around 40ish hz

I just purchase some SE's 12's and I've had them for a little less than a week and they have only been played hard like 6 times and now on long bass notes they seem to drop downon at high volumes...what gives ?Are they going bad or is it to much power 750 rms to each one....my amp isn't clipping because the gain is halfway.... they are in a prefab Ported Pro Box that has four port...anybody got a clue what might be the problem
Yes, this is your prob. Set it according to your radio's voltage and all your probelms with likely go away. If not, too much power.

the 15001 takes up to 5v so if u have a average headunit it's puttng out 2v so half on the gain would be right. turn ur headunit to flat. turn ur crossover halfway which will put u around 80hz then put ur gain @half. turn ur boost freq all the way down and ur bass boost all the way to 0. turn ur subsontic filter to what ever ur box is tuned to (probley around 40hz)...

se's dont need ANY breakin time. they have a single soft spider that is there down fall. the coil is decent and would be a perfect match to 2 soft spiders.

ok guys its doing it again and Im gonna try what spl said to do........this subs hit so hard its crazy...I decided to watch and listen to the sub while it does this and it sounds like the cone is hitting the basket almost... a very funny noise and my lights dim alot hmmmm Im jus not sure...My headunit has a 4v subwoofer out so where should I set the gain ?

The woofers are fine, it's your electrical or amp. If the woofers sound right for say 4 seconds, then they should sound right for 10 or 20. The amp on the other hand may be able to put out good power for 4 seconds but then not be able to keep up with a full 20 seconds under certain conditions, probably your electrical, particularly if your dimming as I believe you stated.

well for some reason the sub(s) isn't doing it anymore it really to me sounded as if the sub couldn't hold the note that long or missing a beat .... I also know that I need new rca's because one of them has crapped out
May not be your problem. But when I had my old setup 2 l5's on hifonics bx605, I first got it and it was loud for what it was imo. Then after a short time it went to crap. Half the volume as before. So I just figured cheap amp. Well one day I wiggled the rca at the amp and it would go from loud to normal.

I changed em out and didn't have one problem afterwards.

probably too much RMS for the subs, i have SX's not SE's bu ti own RE audio so i will lend a helping hand to a fellow owner the best i can //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

to me, deffinatly sounds like too much RMS, and remember its only a 12'' subwoofer now that it is broken in propperly it has lost its punch and is going to sound differant aswell, but my main point is its a 12'' they arnt going to be the greatest for Bass preformance, if you are looking for sound quality Se's are the way to go, SX's and MT's are their SPL brands.

SE's are meant for sound quality, Just sounds like you are trying to use them i nthe wrong application.

wow you dont have a clue what you are talking about

lol , im just quoting what the general manager/production manager told me over the phone.

i was selecting my subwoofers, and was going to go with the MT's but went with the SX's he broke down what each one was best for.

So no, i do know a bit of what i am talking about.
