Are my amps shot?

I have two small amps. I wanted one of them to power some 5.25 components, but when I connect either of them, and get ready to adjust the gain, the sound is distorted as if the speakers are blown - even at low volume. If I disconnect the amp, and run the speakers off the H.U. the speakers are fine.

I've used the preamp outs from the H.U. to the amp, but I also connected an IEC AULOC between the H.U. speaker outs and the amps - then adjusted the auloc down, but I get the same distortion.

The amps were given to me by different people.

Any suggestions? or is that just a symptom of a blown amp?

Could be a few different things. But I'd try some different RCA's, yours maybe shot.
