Something else to think about. The thunder 8000 was originally released with a pole vent and the basket venting. After the first year, the pole vent was eliminated and all that was left was the basket venting. I have a friend that works at MTX in R&D, and I asked him about it (I had bought thunder 8000's in both years, and was surprised when I received the first set without pole vents). He said they found that the coil actually stayed cooler with just the basket venting, so they eliminated the pole vent. Something about the air not being forced through the vent when it was vented on both ends. Don't get me to lying, I have never tested it, but I think the vents in the basket are sufficent for keeping the coil cool.
You just threw me off with the statement "in fact no venting at all". . .
