Are Hifonics amps any good to power my Morel comps?

hifonics rates their amps @ 14volts so make sure u know that...
And the difference between that rated power and the 12v power is going to be how much? Audible?

Unless the freq response of their amps is horrific, and there's no reason to believe that to be the case, there's no reason that using a Hifonics amp will degrade the sound of those comps at all assuming that the amp is setup correctly.

LOL @ you guys acting like he is perpetrating the holocaust by putting morel comp on a hifonics amp.

Get an xx-jupiter or juno.

But honestly, you might as well say hes committing a crime if hes not using "quadrouple shielded triple twisted pure single crystal OFC platinum plated with reinforced joint" RCA's

As long as the freq response is there at it does power at low THD, theres nothing wrong with using it.

The funniest thing about it is I just wanted to know if HiFonics was a "budget" amp, or a "good" amp. I spent enough for the Dotech's that I don't mind paying a little more for a "quality" amp...I just wasn't sure about the HiFonics brand. It's not like I had my mind set on buying one.

Hifonics has been around a long time. They had the first 1000 watt amp, the Colosus back in the 80's. Sure the entry level stuff is cheap but move up the line they build some pretty good amps.

ive never had any issues with hifonics, or maxxsonics for that matter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I use hifonics amps for my front and rearstage. Yeah, they werent expensive, but definately do a good job.

The hifonics titans are entry level, the zues and brutus lines are good budget amps. I didn't really like the crossover on the hifonics 4 channels personally. I love my brutus though... does 2krms at 1 ohm and stays cold to the touch, for under 300 dollars. The XX/XXV lines are awesome amps, competition grade.

But most people think of the other lines right away. And honestly, they arent even bad amps.

Uh, you do know that the current production HiFonics amplifiers are nothing but a name compared to the 80s Zed manufactured amplifiers. I am not saying that Zed is "all that" but to compare HiFonics NOW, which is nothing but a name, to HiFonics prior to the name sell out is an insult!

I did run a HiFonics Zeus V1 that was given to me by a friend for helping him build a barn on my summer break while in high school. I would still have that amp if someone (a family member) hadn't stolen it and pawned it for drug money:furious:

so are you saying the gen xx series of amps are worse than what others think is "godly" made in Asia?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Not bashing Asian made amps but nothing is "like it used to be". Can you hear the difference in all of these amplifiers? I bet it would be rather difficult to do if the amps were all set up close and with simular power ratings.

Actually, I have been able to hear differences between amplifiers, but this is the wrong place for that. I argued that HERE and HERE showing my results! I did the test TWICE just to ensure that the playing field was leveled!

When I talk about the "old" HiFonics, I mean that I have seen HiFonics amps from 15 to 20 years ago that are still running and needed NOTHING done to them, whereas I see HiFonics amps from two years ago that require repair or total replacement! I have had this argument with others regarding being built better or being built cheaper, and most stuff lately is being built as cheaply as possible with maximum profit in mind!

I guess that is the price us consumers pay for affordability. IIRC, the HiFonics Zeus V1 retailed for close to $900 in the 80s and it was a whopping 300 RMS X 2 @ 4 ohms stereo or 900 x 1 @ 4 ohms mono. If we took inflation into consideration, $900 in 1985 would be the equivalent of $1,700 with today's dollar. Today, you can get a Hifonics ZXi 1308 from Sonic Electronix for $280 and it does 325 x 2 @ 4 or 1300 x 1 @ 4.

Don't even get me started on the local kids who believe Legacy and Pyramid's maximum power (before the amp catches on fire) rating schemes...

Ahhhh so 20 year old Hifonics never broke down? LOL BS

and your test was not very scientific at all

agreed

i'd want to see an oscope and an rta for me to believe any of that besides you just convincing yourself that it sounded better.

I have ran a 5 channel Hifonics Zeus for a few years and has been nothing but fantastic. I have owned some higher end amp, older PPI, Older Soundstream, Older Xtants and honestly couldn't tell you a difference between any of them and the hifonics.
