Are bigger names NOT the best bet?

Im looking into buying a 15" subwoofer and have had several suggestions leaning me away from bigger name subwoofers such a JL Audio and Rockford. Some people have recommended SSA, DC, and IDQ. I would like to be able to shake the whole block while driving down the road but SQ is still a big factor and im not trying to go over $1000-$1200 for the subwoofer/enclosure/amp. It seems like all suggestions are leaning toward subwoofers which seem that are more for competition. While i dont mind competition i am just trying to stay in my price range and have the best possible SQ while having LOUD subwoofers. It will be in the back of a Pontiac G6 and i also need a new headunit which i will not be doing the install and im trying to get all of the above (headunit,subwoofer,amp,enclosure,etc) for hopefully under $1200-$1400. It seems like asking questions has done nothing but make me have more questions if someone could help me lean toward a single direction that would be much appriciated! I just want a nice loud system but i am the worst person for making big decisions! what should i get!? P.S. i am looking for something very reliable as well!!! if you have any questions feel free to ask im just trying to make the right dicison.

Im trying to have 1100-120 rms AT LEAST!!! hopefully more!

That's a reasonable budget, I would suggest looking in the classifieds here. If you bought subs and amp from the sane person you could probably get a really good deal.

Jim aka @mylows10 is a very good guy to work with. If you want to buy everything new with warrenty on your product, he is the way to go, he carries many different brands and would be able to supply you with everything.

if you dont mind buying used, which i suggest, alot more power, and better subs can be had for your budget.

That budget is a nice budget to work with.

People often dont recommend big box store brands because you can buy an "online" brand such as DC, SSA, Image Dynamics, etc. for less and get a better performing product.

only thing worth running from alpine is their HU's, and their PDX line of amplifiers for a budget like this.
