are all sony amps crap????

the new sony amps will only run at 2ohms daily. they will put out very close to rated power at that load. i ran a shop for a few years about 3 years ago. we ran those same amps on a single l7 kicker 15 and itpushed it really well...nothing like the kicker 1200's i was running but not bad at all..and for the $$ i think they are decent.

I wouldn't say they are all crap. I would say they have the highest probability of being improperly used. But in the hands of a good installer. they are pretty nice. I have seen a really nice install using Sony products. But they get a lot of flack because people abuse them.

yeah i abuse the one i have in my car right now since im waitin on buyin a new amp to push my DD but it will run it at .75ohms for aleast 1 hour before it goes into protect

so do you guys think the amp i mentioned would push my SX nicely??? sub is rated 1000 rms and the amp pushes 900 so it would be just under the rms. its a dual 4 by the way 15".

you should be fine as long as the amp can handle your ohm load

It'll be alright, don't forget though that the SX's will take loads more power (daily) than what their rated at, if I ever upgraded to the sx's, I'd prolly push 1400-1500rms to them

BUT, 900watts should get them moving

yea i have a couple old sony amps - they are ugly and arent great but for as bad as i abused them... they still work pretty much fine... the 4 channel amp i got - one speaker cracks sometimes at loud volumes and read somewhere online - that could the amp isnt handling the impedance change very well..

I had an older sony amp for a while and i was pleasantly suprised with it, My frist system, was it powering 2 old rockford punch z's it sure did the job. lasted a long *** time too.

I cant remember the model number but it was just as they were moving to xplode, my particular one had the xplod badging but when i searched the model number the ones that came up werent all badged like that, so it must have been just as they introduced it. It was a good amp for the price i paid.

well i was gonna get that amp on a trade but the guy who is gonna trade me told me its the only sony amp he would ever use and told me its better than all the other sony's
