AQ vs DD

AQ's are Chinese assembly line subs packaged for resale...DD's are hand made in OK City...and each individual sub goes through a series of test before they are boxed and shipped...AQ's use to be American made subs as well.....but they arn't the same quality they once were....

Each AQ sub is power tested and goes through several QC checks at our OKC facility as well as some final assembly. The aluminum coil versions are built by hand with American spiders, glues and coils at OKC

i see a lot of split decision. To clear things up a bit. I will be putting the single 10 in my bmw convertible and powered by a mm3000. I'm looking for a solid 10 that will put a smile on my face like how my ssx does.

as times are hard right now and no one seems to want to buy anything i can't get the funds to pick up a DD. I do believe the dd to be a better choice if it were to be just about sound. But just like everything else in life, its the whole picture that matters. When i buy something i have to look at the cost, performance, presentation, and ease of purchase. At this time, cost has a huge grip on my decision. But at the same time i don't want to miss out on performance. I mean, thats why i 'm comparing theses 2 in the first place right?

are you saying it's not worth it or not wise to get the regular copper coil version?
And yes i'm on a budget. But i got a good deal for 350 on a 9510. But i figured if i can get the other for 260 then why nou
No not at all. They seem great.

It's just that the HD3A is an american built sub that has the same quality assembly, glue, coils, and spiders as the DD sub. Actually possibly better than a standard 9500 imo, because the AQ cone is stronger than a standard DD cone. The DD does cool a little better though. Either way they are going to be very similar.

The copper coiled AQ is still a great woofer. In my testing it's more efficient than the aluminum coiled woofer as well.

Great info all around from you. How much power can one give the copper coiled HDC3 10? According to what you said before, I assume a box designed for the dd 9510 would work just as good for the AQ? $260 shipped for a 10" that can stand next to a dd 95 series deserves a try in my book.

I like both companies but unless AQ changed there spiders there is no way they are better then DD spiders... And about the cones I would say they are about even... The dd cone is equal to the AQ if not a lil better... Very similar subs. I have owned both and both get loud I would have to give DD the edge in sound quality.... Like i said cant got wrong with either
