aq hdc4 to sundown ns? upgrade or downgrade?

18's in a trunk isn't the greatest idea. Stick with 12's.

I don't know why y'all are saying the NS's will take more power. HDC's are beast. I don't think you have any legit reason to swap unless you just want matching gear. The NS might like a little smaller box, maybe? But if you don't want to rebuild, I'd leave it alone.

This is just anecdotal... but I had a NS 12 and well... not impressed.

Oh its gonna get rebuilt either way, Im adding a second sundown saz-3500. That box that Im using is just way too big for 7000-8000 watts. Im going to have to make a smaller box either way. But thanks, I guess Ill just keep my subs.

I don't see a huge difference, but the NS has better soft parts then the HDC4 and is a little better built all around. However, the difference you will actually notice would be negligible at best.

^^^ this

Single 18 should gain DEEBEEZ over pair of 12's all things being equal, but the odds of doing it out of a trunk are slim.

Lulz waiting their sundown nut huggin. Spl wise u won't gain. Only way to gain much output db wise is tune a bit higher, and add more power. The way I look at it, hdc4 is a green apple, z3 is a yello apple, their both apples, just a little different.

Not by much. Although you have a little more come area. You have 1/2 the motor force and less controll of power. I'd be curious of a side by side tho

4 12's on 7k or no balls... lol, whats your electrical gonna be like for 7k daily???
8 gauge wire and a stock 90 amp alternator. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

lol joking... I already have one run of power and ground kicker hyperflex 0 gauge. Two kinetik hc2000's and one kinetik hc2400. Still have the stock 90 amp alternator for now. By the time I get the second sundown saz-3500, Ill have a new dc 270 amp alt and another run of 0 gauge wires.

Alright thanks, I guess ill just keep the hdc4's. I was just always wondering about those ns subs

thats like saying 5 eights will be louder just because of motor force.... I would chose 1 18 over 212's any day... and by apxx has more that half of the force that those two hdc4's have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

That's why i addressed it as a factor. 4 8s Is about 1 15" in cone area, but then you have to look st a lot more other factors like useable throw, their also comparing different subs. Apxx is a much more powerful motor.
