AQ HDC4-15 or DC XL-15

Just making sure as I've seen more then one person get bit by measuring inside the trunk, never thinking about the actual opening and what will fit into there.

Off 1500 a copper HDC3 would do well in 4.5cubes if you can fit that...

This is sort of off topic of the thread, but what do you guys think of the FI BL 15 with all the cooling and junk on it? It costs less than either and is a lot easier to get a hold of than the DC XL. Less power handling, but it's cheaper...

That's a downgrade from all the subs listed so far

What you tuning to in 4.5?

For daily they just don't have the linear excursion to sound good..

I've tried 4.5 4 3.5 3.25 tuned from 29 to 38..

Larger boxes are peaky and sound pretty bad but they slam..

Guess I listen to music now instead of strictly output..

Btw I had 60in^2 of port area might have been alittle to much because it was peaky..

I usually tune to 38Hz since I don't play much rap stuff or real low stuff. Lately guys have been choosing 35Hz and that seems to work well for the lower stuff they play.

4.25 has been the sweet spot for me, boxes and walls. Musical enough to play anything and put up good numbers. 16-18^2 port area per cube...

yea just not the bandwidth i like.. i listen to rap. rock, and techno its tuff to get the best of all worlds having a flat FR from 26-about 70 and having the output is challenging..

got a prototype im working on using atomic apx motor slightly modified..

the real trick to it is having enough mass to get low but not so much you introduce distortion trough spider packs causing non linear stroke while having enough excursion to be capable of staying linear and still having enough mechanical dampening to avoid any overhang ported enclosures are associated with("tight" sound) along with good cooling and minimizing back emf alll while being able to take abuse.. most times its just not possible without a sacrifice but thats where the customer installer and engineer need to be on the same page.. no one woofer is ideal for every application..
