aq hdc3 15" in a sealed box

ok people listen up. i dont mean to be rude but 70% of the posts in this thread arent related to my posts. ill make it easy.1. the AQ is already here.

2. Can it be used in a sealed application?

3. if no, why not?
Of course you can put it in a sealed box.

why is she set on the aq? try a sub that will perform well in a sealed box. plenty to choose from.
ok please read the above posts.

I ALREADY HAVE THE SUB AND SHE WOULD LIKE TO BUY IT BECAUSE ITS HERE NOW. dont ask me to explain girls, i just dont get them.

dont answer my question with suggestions of subs that will work in that. im asking for people with experience in this sub.

Yes it will work sealed but it is not recommened sealed and will sound crappy. But since this is her first system it will probably be fine for her. I would make it as big of a box as you can tho.

I'd say she wants it because it looks ballin. That seems to be why 50% of people choose their subs. But really, if she's into SQ, sell th AQ for something else. Sure it will work in a sealed enclosure, but you won't get the most bang for your buck.

well the aq is for sale. so im getting rid of it for money...so ya ill sacrifice it for money...?

ok now what tells you that it wont sound good sealed? seriously, im asking. without having ever heard it sealed.

Not to be a dick, but I doubt many people have even tried it due to the fact that it's purely a SPL woofer. I mean shit, AQ doesn't even list specs for a sealed box.

maybe im missing it but where does it even say the ported box specs?

nobody respond to my question without experience on the sub. i dont need people who have never even heard the sub trying to help my decision.

so people cant get loud in sealed boxes? im just trying to understand why it wont work in a low power sealed application...if the answer is just completely no then ill have to rebuild the car to allow for more space or something

It's an SPL sub? When did they change the design? :/
When did they change the design? It is a SPL sub for the most part but meant for daily use.

Ask DJ but he will probably tell you the same thing it isn't meant to be used in a sealed box.

Do it and give the forum a review and update.

But personally, I think it is a horrible choice for sealed alignments, and it will not perform to its potential when implemented into them. It will most likely sound muddy or just really bad.

It was built and designed for high tuned, ported applications.
