well its for a friend and she wants the aq. but she only has about 3 cu ft to work with. and itll be running on about 900 rms. now this is a person whose never had subs of any kind before. but ive also never seen the hdc3 in a sealed application. any other input?

900wrms is not enough for a hdc3.

But still i would go with a 12 inch if you only have that size box

i am aware that 900rms is not enough. as for getting the 12", i already have the 15". i bought it for someone else but that fell through and this girl wants it for her car. why would it sound bad?

so why exactly wouldnt it sound good? is there something in the specs that dictate its use for ported only? actually ill just pm DJL..

Look at a 15" SSD from Fi...should work great in 3 cubes sealed, and work well off of 900 watts as well.

Sweet jesus. Don't get an HDC3 15 for SQ. That's an SPL sub. That's like baking a potato and licking it rather than eating it. 900 rms wouldn't cooperate well with an HDC315 either, that thing's suspension is stiff. Real stiff.

Just do it:

She's never had a sub before. She wants it. She's willing to pay for it. It'll be alright. If it sucks SQ wise, she won't know what's up. If it doesn't, everything's good. Report back the results.

try it, whats the worst that can happen? she doesnt like it, she can get sell the aq and get something different.
