because a "3500" watt amp that does im guessing ~3500 watts markets better than a saz-3000d which does 4000+ watts? lol
I voted for sundown b/c with my strapped pair i saw over 10kw@ 1ohm.
The AQ amps are slightly under rated, I would expect the 3500 to do 3600-3700 watts, but the build quality of the Sundown seems to be infinitely better.

PS: You should try contacting a dealer about pricing.

No dealers in the Chicago area that I know of. I was going off the $1149 price I saw on the website. If it's cheaper than that through a dealer, I was not aware.

Edit... I do see there is a dealer in Indiana

Haven't even saw the internals of a AQ up close. Talked to a few people who have them and said they did rated power. I wouldn't say the build quality is infinately better because the AQ's aren't blowing up all over the place, but I suspect that the AQ is a true 3000 watt amp, where as the sundown is made with big balls

Yea, an overstatement, they are decent amps from everything I have read, but everyone that I have seen that has had both say the Sundowns are better. But in the end doing rated power and not blowing up is #1 in my book.

That 10k was on 16v wasn't it? The aq's will take 16/18v as well, so would be curious to see a test on what they would do for a strapped pair on high voltage

I have to say Sundown...but even then...a friend of mine has the older styled AQ 1200D's strapped to a pair of SDC 2.5's...and its very very impressive..

I cannot wait to clamp his 1200D's strapped.

I'm running just 1 of my SAZ 3k's right now @ 0.5ohm all day everyday on a Nightshade 18" and its taking it like a champ..

Both good companies and I have experience with both..but...

Sundown FTMFW..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

i have heard so many good things about sundown. the 3K has been around a bit longer than the AQ though, so i don't know of that many people using them as compared to the Sundown.

but still, you can't go wrong with sundown.

Everyone here talking down to the AQ, probably has never owned one themselves.

I say AQ3500.

I personally have 2 AQ2200's (one installed atm) running @ .5 and it takes it like a ****ing champ.

And for the price/support you can't beat it, DJ is a great guy.

All in all...I'm sure either one is a great choice..

I wouldn't mind testing a 3500D though..as I've only got experience with the 1200D's from them...but they are solid amps..so I would expect northing short from the 3500D as well.. and DJ is a good guy...had plenty of conversatios picking his brain about AQ subs.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

But I'm sundown..
