Apine Type-X or JL VR 6.5 Comps? Anyone heard either

I am looking at upgrading my TR components. They have no crossover by design and i have to have them highpassed over 110hz or they clip on some songs. Some report similar problms with the Type X. I can gt the X's for 185 and the VR's for 195.

Sounds like Type X is a better value. You are comparing Alpines top model (excluding the F#1) to JL's mid line model. But, speakers are personal preference. Don't buy until your ears justify the purchase.

I love my Type Xs. Granted I have the older models (blue cone) w/ the bigger crossover.

Midbass is superp IMO, makes it easy to get the sub to blend perfectly. Tweeters were very good, not harsh but they weren't too laid back. The crossover is awesome, makes for great tunability.

I guess I will get the X's, they have good reviews in general, and my substage actually hits the highs decent with my box i have now. Not so much of a low note monster like my previous setups so it should blend well.
