AP15001D going into protect mode.

I moved the sub box from my backseat to my front seat, and I think I may have done something to the wiring, because when a bass note hits, the subs suspension bottoms out, and the amp goes into protect mode. It's a Type R fifteen running at 8 ohms, and my headlights are dimming. I know for a fact that it's not enough current draw to cause any voltage drops as bad as what I was having. Any help?

yea i think that might b a problem
Are you sure? The wiring diagram came straight from Rockford, so I figured it would be legit...

It has worked fine @ 8ohms during some heavy, heavy listening, and now the suspension bottoms out and returns to normal, and the amp goes into protect.

I checked my RCAs, ground, power, and remote, and everything is as it should be.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Yea, I could have run it @ two ohms, but it would have given it like 200 more watts than it's supposed to have. And I went out and rechecked the wiring, nothing is wrong. I opened my amp as well, and nothing is blown and I can't smell a burning smell on the board.
After rise you wont get that power..

wire it down to 2 ohms

Sounds like you have shorted a wire. If it's worked fine then you moved it and now it doesn't..........................pretty much common sense. Maybe you will be lucky enough to have not damaged the amp.

That's what I was thinking, but I checked all of the wires. And if I went to two ohms, won't it blow the sub? The sub is 750wRMS, and @ two ohms, the amp is 950wRMS.

I don't think I damaged the amp because I opened it up, there was nothing wrong. Looks like it did when I opened it when I got it.

Um, im almost positive running an amp at higher impedience is NOT a problem for just about any amp. Its running lower than rated impediance when it becomes a problem. It should have nothing to do with being run at 8 ohms, you can do that if you really want or cant supply enough power to the amp or whatever right now.

But ya, check out all your wiring and shit. Maybe you wired it to 2 ohms mistakenly and its trying to pull more power than your electrical can give it.

Yea, I pulled my sub to look at the voice coil wiring, and its wired correctly for eight ohms. Maybe my speaker wire got ****ed up somewhere, that's the only thing I can think of. I'll go look again.

i'd run it at 2 ohms.
and is your box for 1 15 type argh.... 8cuft.??
Shit.. X2 haha..

Well im pretty sure it wont blow it giving it 950 rms. But then again, if you have that giant *** box it may blow it with that much power. That box is huge for one 15 type r im pretty sure..
