I am trying to find answers through the search but i cannot seem to find what im looking for.

I am gonna have 2 Alpine Type-R's in the back of my toyota avalon.

Every thing i see on this forum recommends hifonics, but i just do not trust them.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good amp that will power two type r's that is not hifonics?

I can get the 2 ohm and 4 ohm version of the Type rs for the same price, so whatever amp will give me the best sound will do.

My budget is around $300

new? i'd get a sundown sae1000d. or if really cheap a cadence txa1000d is $199 shipped. ed nine is about $320. or if you want to spend more you can buy my sundown 1500d:)

well most of the hifonics amps are rated at 1 ohm for the most power, so you would go with dual 4 ohms...alot of people say bad things about hifonics and all that, i was really nervous to order one of their amps, so i went ahead and bought the bxi2006d online for around 320 shipped....honestly i had a ma audio hk897 before that, and the hifonics is so much louder, and clearer. we have had a couple 90 degree days and ive had the music up loud and the amp doesnt even get close to hot at 1 ohm (knock on wood)...well i think they are good amps for the money, i just bought a xx hercules from someone on this forum because i got a great deal on it, but if your interested in a hifonics bxi2006d i have one for sale relatively cheap...

Mongojerry, i am in the same boat as u are but i have a little more to spend. I just bought two 12" Type R's and i didnt know which amp to get. i was looking at the bxi2006d and alpine pdx1.1000. I decided that im going to get the pdx1.1000 i've heard nothing but great stuff the pdx's. a buddy of mine has the same set up only he has two pdx's to power the two type r's and those thing knock hard. I've had the hifonics brutus b1000 (not quite sure wat the model is) the old school one and that thing was great until one day one of the white blocks that was soldered on the board broke off, i dont know how but it broke and now im going to get the pdx's. they go for about 470 on techtronics.com

Ive owned a bx1000d, bx1500d, and a bx2005d. I didnt have any problems with any of them. I would recommend them too anybody who needs power for a good price! I would also recommend buying them used...

it's not that they're bad

alot of ppl have them and i heard the 06 and under are overrated (heard 07's do rated power but i dont know for a fact) for the money i hear they are very good - never owned one personally but considering it but expect a little less than what they're rated.

i also agree syndicate i was looking at the pdx and i have heard many great things but it is jus too expensive.

Its not that hifonics are bad its just that they do not last long.

To me even the name hifonics just sounds cheap

so can anyone share their opinion on a better amp besides hifonics??
