ORION or Hifonics

hi all

Orion HCCA-D2400 --> $280 usd

Hifonics HIFONICS BXi1606--> $240 usd

i found that a few people complain about the HIFONICS BXi1606 and others say its good, but i think it looks great and for the price its grabbed my attention. However i have yet to find any feedback about the orion. they both have around the same RMS output but im curious in quality terms?

i like hifonics dont get me wrong but orion is a much better brand. but i'd never buy used.

Orion is generally considered higher quality, but hifonics amps are good.

Orion might be able to take a bit more abuse is how I look at it.

also just need some help with working out how to set gains

Im not a huge car enthusiast but i sorta know whats goin on

to set gains

just say i go with the orion running @ 2 ohms 800W RMS

and for the mean time i will be connecting 2 clarion 12"s single 4 ohms coil rated at 300W RMS each

in parallel --> till i upgrade

for me to set the gains properly my calc should look like this sqrt(2*(300+300))

= 34.64 v

is this correct? is this the voltage i need at speaker terminals

does this means i should never have that voltage go above that figure to eliminate me blowing the subs?

and this is done after i adjust my HU to the max volume i will use?

Orion has been solid in my experience.
