anyone use those mp3 to ringtone programs

easy way that i do is chop up the song u want to around 1mb or under 30sec with absolute mp3 splitter, which is free. then just take the clip and email it to ur phone. i know verizon's is yournumber@vzwpix.com and u can save as ringtone not sure about other companies but this works with verizon
I know that Im suppose to email it to myself but it simply wont pick up the sound clips. Im able to send graphics but no audio. Any ideas? The exact message I get is "One or more of the message compontents have been deleted by MMS adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for you terminal." My phone is an mp3 player for christs sake so it should definently be able to read the files. And the files Im sending it are half the maximum size. The stupid people at cingular keep telling me I HAVE to spend $80 bucks on a cord and a memory card which is bs. I can send stuff to my phone that is 3 years old but not my brand new one. Its either a scam in the sense cingular purposely blocks off mp3 files from being emailed or these people are blowing smoke up my ***.
