They don't. They measure. You measure the height, width, and length - multiply and BLAM! You have volume!

in square inches. i was asking how do you convert sq inches to gallons. tape measurers dont do that. but i found the calculator , thanks.

Plywood and glass is fine, no wire mesh or open sides, that would let too much heat out. Nothing really to worry about except pay attention to which materials get hot, pvc when heated can release dangerous fumes. bearded-dragon.org or something similar is a GREAT forum with tons and tons and tons of build pics and general info on bearded dragons. A digital thermometer is the best tool you can have, by far. Any more questions just ask.
