anyone own bearded dragons?

How much time do you plan to invest? They are not big upkeep, but not the easiest.

Monkey tail skink are very easy to take care of and live a long time. Also, vegatarian.

I've had mine for about 10 years.

skink or beardie?

i was checking them out at the shops but none really cought my eye. dont they need more of a humid habitat?

im home everyday if im not working, so spending time with it would not be a problem. and my vacations are not long at all whenever i do take them so im sure my mother can take care of it for a week or so. plus she has a vet she goes to with the turtles/tortises that specializes in reptiles and big cats so if it gets sick , its not that far of a drive at all.

20 gallon for one up 2 about 6 months, then for a juve to a adult at least a 40 gallon. there not that much work just gettin the temps right is the hardest. i take mine out the tank and just let him roam in the living room all the time

any pics of it?

Ive had one, pretty easy care. Just make sure to look up the most info you can BEFORE you buy. MY biggest problem was feeding. Be sure to have a spare tank ready to start a cricket colony. They eat TONS. Temperatures are important, get the proper lighting or the dragon cannot process its food and will die a horrible death. A 40 gallon "breeder" tank is the bare minimum for an adult. NO matter what do not get 2. Handmade 4x2x2 cages are the best and can be made for cheap. With proper set up and care they can live pretty long and get very big, and very fat, make quite cool pets.

ive been reading as much as i can , but when it comes down to it , i think ill pick up a good book to use as a referance. what materials can be used for making a cage? wood? plexiglass? any special kind of sealant , or just any non-toxic stuff?

Lizards are fun. I have a leopard gecko but I know a few people with bearded dragons. Just make sure and keep the heat up and you will be just fine. Bearded dragons are very hardy animals, they can go a week or two with no food no problem so they are easy to manage if you go on vacation.
