Anyone know who they're voting for in 2008?

stop posting what you hear on the hannity radio show.
Your argument was that people use resources that are instrumental to their success, but then complain when they are asked to repay what they took through taxation. Espoused by you and claimed to be the American and just way, it is nothing more than selfish, greedy, and morally bankrupt ideology.

You want to take for yourself without giving anything for the future, plain and simple, and your trite conservative propaganda is quite threadbare.

Never once did I state that we as citizens should be exempt from taxes of any kind. We must insist however, that there be a limit to the level of taxation, not only because excessive taxation undermines the strength of the economy but because taxation beyond a certain level becomes servitude. And in America, it is the Government that works for the people and not the other way around.

Since I'm the intellectual superior, i might as well be the bigger man over all and say that the most healthy position for out country to take is the one between either of our polar extremes.
I win and your stupid.

You most certainly did endorse not paying taxes. You said that the rich shouldn't pay them and that we should enslave the poor. You might not have used those exact words, but those were indeed your sentiments Don't try to back track now.

You and your political persuasion are against children, pro-slavery and intent on destroying everything that is just and moral in our society.

Personally i like American children and freedom. I'm sorry you are so ideologically opposed to the things that made this nation great.

True patriotism > your fanatical ideology

While I will agree with you faulkton that we must pay taxes, but by what mechanism should we pay them? That is my issue. I am against using financial incentives to create the society envisioned by our legislators.

you forgot to mention that i improperly used "your", instead of the correct "you're", in my claim to intellectual superiority //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

i think we should pay them with monies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am for using financial incentives to shape society, leaving it solely to capitalist market forces would be a mistake IMO.

The degree to which we try to shape society with economics is open to debate and i do not claim to know the answer.

Some meddling is good, but too much in fact would be bad.

Your off topic is not wanted here. You really don't want to start this precident with me do you?

Faulkton I know you are probably being tongue-in-cheek with your arrogance but its OBNOXIOUS AS HELL. I find myself agreeing with you more often than not, but you are trying SO HARD to depict yourself as a well-rounded intellectual that you just come off as insecure. For someone who has dedicated his life to the study of society, you'd think you would have developed more palletable ways to get your ideas into a receptive mind. Instead it seems that you have no idea how to talk to people rationally and rely solely on rhetoric and generalizations of your opponent and their background.

That is of course unless you just like to stir the pot in order to be met with resistence (extreme opposites always attract eachother), which I suspect you will claim (regardless of whether that's actually the case) to capture that classic Internet born sentiment for anything one wants an excuse for: "I didn't even care to begin with.".

Anyways, had to be said.

I would say to a higher degree depending on the level in which people are concerned with economics. Many of my colleagues shoot for conception in the month of March, hoping for December children so they may take the highest advantage of the tax breaks.

But many of the items we give tax breaks for such as children, marriage, etc would naturally occur anyway. I don't know of a anyone who got married simply for the tax break.

By what mechanism, I meant as in federal taxes as currently in place, national flat income tax, national sales tax. Each provides advantages and disadvantages to different groups. I was wondering what groups you would like to advantage and why.

I am for economic redistribution only because I feel that they support the top. Even though I am an elitest and pro-rich, I still see that a pyramid needs a base to support it, and that I need buyers for the products I sell. If I tax them to death, I will ultimately lose as there will be no one to buy my products.

sure i do; I like starting things.

If you wanted simple nominal level data you should have made a poll.

You were naive if you thought a political discussion of any sort, in of all places the fukkin lounge, wouldn't evolve and take on character apart from the original sentiments.

wash the sand out of your snatch and simmer down.

@ Flipx99 - I'm for the Fair Tax.

I'm not against paying taxes; in fact, I think that it is absolutely essential that taxpayers help fund social programs and the operation of the government. I think that paying taxes should be fair and it should be simple. We shouldn't have to have a degree in accounting and the IQ of Einstein in order to figure out how much tax we're supposed to pay each year.

More importantly, we shouldn't have a tax collection agency breathing down our necks, using fear tactics to frighten us into tax compliance. That's not the kind of activity that should be going on in a free society. Since America is supposed to be a free society, we should have a simple, Fair Tax system that leaves it up to consumers to decide how much tax they wish to pay.

That's all I'm going to say on this topic for now. We really should make our own thread if we are to discuss this matter further. If you have any further questions regarding this, im me, or start a thread.:p

I am pro fair tax as well. Although it is not really "fair" to those who:

a) are not savers

b) not not have the capacity to save (as seen before, many forum members use withholding as a way to save)

c)against those who spend a predominate amount of money just to live.

d) sales taxes do not do well in recessions, as people spend less money.
