Don't wait a month man, have the bank fax either you or the police station records showing the unauth'd charge. If you advise your CC company that the info is needed for a police investigation I'm sure they will fax it out right away.

Cool, it probably doesn't hurt to show the police the urgency of the issue instead of waiting a month. If you don't act concerned they may not as well.

I'm pretty sure most states have a state police, Oregon has Oregon state police, California and washington have highway patrol, etc.

But they are not specifically called 'State Troopers' in all 50 states. In more than a few of these United States (California being the example that immediately comes to mind) the state-level civilian law enforcement is the Highway Patrol. (remember CHiPs?! never mind....you may not be old enough....)
In my own state of Louisiana they are (in direct contradiction to whatwas posted by Flipx99) we have the Louisiana State Police. This is what it says on their barracks.....but the graphics on the trunklids of their cruisers says State Trooper.

What kind of Police Officer is going to call out of state and going to identify himself as "Dave" anyway? I've lived in some backwoods area's and even they use something like "Trooper Smith" or "Officer Johnson". Of course, it is Utah, but even then it would have been more like"Lt Dan" (think Forrest Gump).

Obviously this guy is a freakin' idiot and would never suspect that most of the world's population is smarter than he is...
