Anyone interested in Joining the Coast Guard ?

we dont have any men here manly enough to join the legion, srsly
i thought about for about 2 weeks then REALLY thought about it for about a day and was like **** that shit.
I looked into it after active duty but with a family it wasn't going to happen so I started looking into EOD (explosive ordenance disposal) but then the rules were alot diff. than now. While I have a total of 13yrs in the army I am thinking of going to the air force for a cush 7yrs for retirement my body can't the army any more after 5 deployments. Only 2 were overseas.

How about coast guard ?

coast guard is a branch of the navy if im not mistaken, just like the marines is a branch of the navy.

anywho. we dont actually have a career counselor in my squadron right now. but thats a long story. basically i dont want to have to go on deployment for 5 months, then we get "5 months off deployment" - aka, doing workups again which means going out for a month at a time during our 'off deployment' time - and then going BACK on deployment for 5 months

i will be doing a back to back deployment. and frankly one is enough. ive been on the carrier about 3 times now... and i have no desire to go back.

Coast Guard is only a branch of the navy in a time of war.

You still didn't answer the pay/bonus question

You get a bonus for signing up and also depending on your rating you chose, you may get another bonus. Pay is same as all other military. You can do a search for 2008 Military Basic Pay tables and find it. You also get housing and food money.
