Anyone have any tips about living in college dormrooms?

Living in a dorm is part of the college experience, you should enjoy it. I made a lot of friends by living in the dorms.

As for tips:

-silverware/pots/pans/bowls/plates for when you want to make REAL food. Most dorms will have a kitchen on every floor with a stove, microwave, fridge, etc. Don't eat ramen and shitty dorm food every night. Plus don't forget those midnight snacks for late night studying.

-Like everyone is saying, leave your door open and walk around the dorms when you first move in. Go to the orientation events and mingle with people. My school had all kinds of stuff going on for the first few weeks.

-Storage/shelving. Once you move into your dorm look at what kind of shelves and shit you'll need. I had shelves for my closet so I had more storage space and I made a big shelving unit to hold our tv, stereo, movies, etc.

-Shower supplies. I had a little tote thingy that had all my soap, shampoo, etc. in it.

-Get in contact with your roommate to see what they have so you both don't bring the same things. I.E. one tv, one fridge, and so on.

I'm sure i'll think of some other stuff later. D*mn, all this talk about dorm life is making me miss school. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Another tip: if you have any tobacco product (cigars specifically), do NOT and I repeat do NOT leave them in plain view unless your humidor is locked or you have another locked storage container. I had 2 Cohiba Esplendidos and 2 Padron Anniversarie 1964 torps. stolen at once, a total loss of near 100 bucks considering the Cohibas were aged to being dusty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

if you're gonna be boozin, keep the music low. also, don't smoke weed in your dorm, i found that out the hard way, lost a 500 dollar vaporizer. although the 5 months of vaping before i got busted was fun

I agree......first few days/ few weeks, keep your room door open and meander around the hallways. just meet people. if you don't meet people and make some friends, you will hate college.
also, as gay as they are, try to go to all the orientation events. great way to meet people, and you can complain together about how stupid everything is.

if you drink, most colleges have alcohol policies. its simple to avoid these, but make sure you do. community service sucks ***.

for me, i just drink in my room or a friends room, with few people, or drink off campus. as soon as you finish a beer, throw the can away and make sure you have your trash can out of view. empty cans usually are what gets people in trouble.

don't buy glass containers, they make too much noise when you are sneaking them in and out.

go to the liquor store early in the day so you don't look strange carrying around a heavy backpack.

buy black trash bags so when you take out your trash, nobody can see whats in it.

and most importantly, DON'T BE LOUD!!!

so meet people and stay out of trouble and you will have a blast
EXCELLENT INFO!!!

I just thought I'd reiterate the study part //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Freshman year is the most important for determining how hard you'll have to work the rest of the time you're in school. Flunk out the first couple semesters and you'll have to get practically all As and a few Bs the rest of your time in school to fight your way to a 3.0. I'm not sayin you have to get a 4.0, but I had friends that got like 0.9s their first semester and a 1.5s their second and struggled to finish to a 2.5, and never got their in-state scholarship back because they couldn't get to 3.0.

But, yea definitely go out and have fun! College only lasts so long //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I think I will regret staying in a dorm since the college I am attending is local...I dunno why but I consider staying in a dorm part of the "college experience"
It really is part of the experience. My brother got accepted to a bridge program where he went to a tech school down the road for 1 year and then transferred into Clemson with all his credits. He lived in an apartment complex with all the other kids that got accepted into the same program, but it's not the same. He's lived in an apartment ever since, and I feel like he missed out. Chalk it up as in intangible.

Well I move to away for college on Aug 15th to move in my dorm room! I am kinda scared. I have always lived at home with mom and dad forever. Now I am gonna be on my own.If any of you guys have any tips on living in a dorm room or even tips on college let me know.

Also what makes it works I have to live on the 6th floor in a 10 story building lol.

Thanks alot guys!
get poon from the college *****s, enjoy it and make sure to wrap that shit and check them *****es over.. college is a sexfest.

oh and my other advice is , don't..

just don't move in there at all. Get an apartment off campus if at all possible. either way.. eh, i'm out of it for now and moved on with life.. i do miss it a lot though.. so enjoy it while you're there bro.
