Anyone have any tips about living in college dormrooms?

I've lived in dorms the past 2 years of my life. However, study when u get back from class, finish any work you have before you have fun @ night, because once i got into dorm life schedule... 3am was an early bedtime.

So basically make friends and have fun.
I agree......first few days/ few weeks, keep your room door open and meander around the hallways. just meet people. if you don't meet people and make some friends, you will hate college.

also, as gay as they are, try to go to all the orientation events. great way to meet people, and you can complain together about how stupid everything is.

if you drink, most colleges have alcohol policies. its simple to avoid these, but make sure you do. community service sucks ***.

for me, i just drink in my room or a friends room, with few people, or drink off campus. as soon as you finish a beer, throw the can away and make sure you have your trash can out of view. empty cans usually are what gets people in trouble.

don't buy glass containers, they make too much noise when you are sneaking them in and out.

go to the liquor store early in the day so you don't look strange carrying around a heavy backpack.

buy black trash bags so when you take out your trash, nobody can see whats in it.

and most importantly, DON'T BE LOUD!!!

so meet people and stay out of trouble and you will have a blast

if you wanted info about furnishings, blacklights and a couch. I took out my flourescent lights and [put in 2 48" blacklight tubes instead. for regular light i just used lamps.

write on shit with highlighters, draw on the walls, etc. its a ***** to wash off at the end of the year, but its pretty cool having all your friend's drawings glowing in blacklight on your walls.

also, if you can fit a couch or a futon in your room, do it. I don't care if your desk is in a tight corner, the couch is worth it. especially if you have friends over a lot.

for extra seating, those folding camping/soccer mom chairs are great. you can fold them up and save space when you don't have ppl over, but never run out of places to sit

Keep your door open during the day, be social, be respectful to your neighbors, get to know the people on your floor, take out your trash often, keep your room smelling fresh, and remember there is always a library to study at.

1. don't leave dishes in the sink

2. empty the dishwasher if it's done

3. eat your own groceries

4. don't smoke pot in the living area

5. mind your own business

6. don't drink the beer that's in the fridge that doesn't belong to you.

7. if there is a line drawn on the milk jug... don't ever try to fill it back up with water.

8.when brushing your teeth, do not spit in the sink... aim for the toilet

9. NO FVCKING IN THE SHOWER!!!!!!

10. if your roommate is a geek try to show him a good time

My biggest tip: Keep your door open whenever you're in the room. People will wander in, and you meet friends. I met countless people this way... have someone just kind of show up and introduce themselves. Also, if someone else's door is open, wander in and meet them. Having a good circle of friends is the most important thing you'll gain at school.

Keep an open mind when meeting new people, and get to know a lot of people. And keep up your connections, you never know when you'll need those dorm mates in the future //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.
Also, if you have trouble studying with noise, get good headphones!

Get wet wipes for the bathroom cause the toilet paper is usually the thinnest stuff ever, and you may have to wipe the seat a lot before you sit on it.

Get febreeze in case your roommate is smelly

parmalat milk if you like cereal

It's even better when it's 98 outside with no A/C and you go into the bathroom and see all the swampass marks on the seats //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Jman is right. There was a room next to the bathroom that everyone on the floor thought was empty until the end of the year when we saw the kid moving out. He looked ****ing miserable and was complaining to his mother about not liking it there. I am a very conservative and private person, but there's nothing better than screaming FUCK THIS PHYSICS and everyone in the hallway yelling in agreement.

question people: should i buy an air purifier? I'm not talking some glade thing, I'm talking some nice one for 150 bucks or so that will take out allergens, pollens, ODORS, etc.

oh and to all those who complain about toilet seats, don't sit down. You gain endurance and muscles that way.

and when i take a dump, i need to sit down and squeeze.

To tell the truth, I kinda miss the doors.

At least my 2 yrs in Harris Hall...its was a blast.

10-15 of us did everything.

Early on, me and Sammy got a foosball table for his room (he had a double all to himself). That room was where it was at...all day, everyday. You could walk down at any random time and 4-7 people would be there playing foos and BSing. Sammy just left the door open and half the time we didn't even know where he was.

But yea, get flip flops....

and condoms.
