I wouldn't have a clue, but I've seen something similar on my camry. I think it may be something to do with the fuel system. Just a guess.

looks to me like anti-lock brakes.

something like the switch that locks and unlocks them quickly. Thoes are really expensive, so dont break it. If its not that it still looks mightty expensive!! lol!

it's either ABS, or some newer cars have a steering deal thats done like that I believe. Rather than have a steering "column" either way.....i doubt yours has that new of technology, so im betting ABS.

looks like the brake system or part of it. wonder if they put the booster/master cylinder over there and then connected it to the left hand side for the american version?
