Anyone had their 500/1 do this?

My friend has a 2003 Civic 4-door, and he is using 2 10w3v2 dual 4's, wired to 4 ohms in a box built to spec.

Everything is installed correctly; I oversaw the install myself. The amp is getting 14.4v when the car is on, and 12.6v when the car is off. He is using the high level input, and it is installed correctly. The amp's power and ground wires are 4awg, the ground is a foot long, and it goes straight to shiny metal. What I'm trying to say here, I have no doubt that it is installed correctly. I am very familiar with Civics and have a considerable knowledge of installing.

What happens is, he turns the radio on, the amp senses the signal, and turns on. It plays normally for ~3 seconds, and then the amp itself starts making a high-pitched whine, and the subs play static, very loud. The power light and the low ohm light turn on, and the amp continues to whine and play static, even after the car is turned off.

Anyone else had this experience? My friend Alex (marineeagle28 on here) had this problem with his, or I assume. He told me of similar signs.

Hi Jordan,
Those symptoms are indicative of a low impedance problem. Because the amp is exhibiting the problem with/without speakers attached indicates that there has been damage to the amp. The amplifier can be repaired, there's a flat rate of: $180.00, it will be brought back to original operating specifications and, will have a 90 day warranty. It needs to be sent in via any of our authorized dealers. You can find a dealer by following this link: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/dealerfind.php I would also check the woofers and, the wiring to the woofers while the amp is being taken care of to ensure that it won’t have the same problem again.

That part seems to have come loose during shipping. He bought it on eGay, and the douche put it in a big box, and wrapped it in the little bubble wrap once, so the amp was probably tumbling around for its whole journey.
