Anyone from the Gulfcoast?

I live in northern LA, all hotels are booked--even through south Ark. This is crazy. Can you say another stake through the Republican campaign heart? At least, maybe some more of the piss stink from Bourbon Street will get washed. This time, at least, people are taking it more serious.

There is more to New Orleans than just Bourbon St. Take for example all of the historic architecture (sp), art, etc. Granted parts of New Orleans are a shit hole, but it is still worth saving as the majority of the historic district is filled with all sorts of things such as the french quarter and the port, which alot of the oil for the U.S. passes through.

I live at LSU right now in the dorms, but before the storm I went to my mother's house in Bossier. I just have the campus fairs well along with my grandparent's and girlfriend's parent's house in Hammond. I'm afraid though that my girlfriend's sister's house in Luling is going to go under water though.
I understand there is some historical value there, but let's be logical here.

The town resides in an area surrounded by water and is below sea level. That's not exactly optimum living conditions especially when hurricanes are commonplace in the area.

It is just going to be a waste of money to rebuild again and have another hurricane come in 5 years and decimate the whole place again.

This wouldn't be the first time that a "historical" area would be destroyed by mother nature, so what makes new orleans so much better that people want the government to spend billions rebuilding it for the 2nd time? This is mother nature's way of saying "don't be stupid enough to live here".

Don't build your house in antarctica and then complain about when it snows.

As of now i live right in the path, south of Lafayette,LA.Sent the wife and kids away, gotta bottle of whiskey and a generator. me and the dogs are gonna ride it out. lol

If it comes down to it,i'll eat the dogs, lol.

As far as the people saying not to rebuild New Orleans, you must have forgot about that little river that brings in alot of things by way of its port. (some peoples childern)

dam man if you really in new iberia you ganna be under water unless you on high ground ...

i am 70 miles north of new orleans up I55 and and have been getting prepared for the last week
