Anyone from the Gulfcoast?

I'm hoping this one just takes new orleans completely off the map so people don't try to rebuild it again. I'm sorry to anyone that lives there, but what a fucking waste of money it was rebuilding that town that was a shithole BEFORE katrina hit.
You have to be an idiot to live in a place that is that far below sea level AND is surrounded by water. That's just a disaster waiting to happen.
New Orleans is one of the oldest cities in America. It isn't one these trendy little towns that just popped up on the coast. People have roots in the city. This is one of the most ignorant comments I have read. It's ashame New Orleans is going to be transformed into a bowl of Cocoa Puffs.

lol New Orleans is pretty far into the US from the east coast, and wasn't even owned by the US for a while after we settled here.. . .

I guess I could be wrong, but New Orleans is not nearly as old as most cities on the East Coast.

And I'm just happy I don't have to worry about natural disasters //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Just because something is old and established doesn't mean it's in the best of locations.

So if I founded a city next to an active volcano it should be immediately be respected just because it's old?

I have roots in chicago. My entire family has lived here since my great great grandparents came over from poland and germany. But if the shit hits the fan you best believe i'll be packin up my shit and moving somewhere safe. The people who stay behind are idiots and deserve to get washed away.

New orleans was a shithole; the only part that anybody cared about was bourbon street. And the only time anyone cared about bourbon street was during mardi gras.

I'm hoping your last statement was an indication that your entire post was a bit sarcastic.

There is more to New Orleans than just Bourbon St. Take for example all of the historic architecture (sp), art, etc. Granted parts of New Orleans are a shit hole, but it is still worth saving as the majority of the historic district is filled with all sorts of things such as the french quarter and the port, which alot of the oil for the U.S. passes through.

I live at LSU right now in the dorms, but before the storm I went to my mother's house in Bossier. I just have the campus fairs well along with my grandparent's and girlfriend's parent's house in Hammond. I'm afraid though that my girlfriend's sister's house in Luling is going to go under water though.
